I was coming out of a shop and walked straight into a pub, my dad that I don’t see anymore as we are estranged was there wearing a suit like he was at a wedding, in real life he recently got married and didn’t tell me, he didn’t see me, I left quickly, but some how he still bumped into me, we exchanged awkward words and I tried to give him a hug and he turned me away and said he just wasn’t ready, my brother was there too, he didn’t hug me either but he never refused to, he just smiled and waved in a friendly way. I turned and walked away
Dreams often reflect our thoughts, feelings, and unresolved issues in waking life. In your dream, several significant themes emerge that may help to unpack its meaning:
Estrangement: Your father’s presence in the dream highlights your feelings towards him and your relationship. The fact that you are estranged suggests that this dream may represent your desire for connection or closure. His wedding attire signifies a major life event that you were not included in, which could evoke feelings of abandonment or exclusion.
Awkwardness and Rejection: The encounter where you attempt a hug but are turned away symbolizes your longing for reconciliation and acceptance. His response could reflect your fears of rejection or the reality of your estrangement. It may suggest that while you wish to reconnect, there are barriers—whether emotional or situational—that prevent it.
Family Dynamics: The presence of your brother adds another layer, indicating the complexities within family relationships. His friendly wave may suggest that while there's a distance or lack of closeness with your brother as well, he is still a part of your support system. It may reflect a sense of weak familial ties or hope for some connection, even if it feels inadequate.
Walking Away: Leaving quickly could symbolize a desire to evade uncomfortable feelings or the acceptance of your current situation. This action might reflect your inner conflict—wanting to reconnect but also feeling the need to protect yourself from further hurt.
Overall, your dream highlights themes of longing, rejection, and the complexities of family relationships. It may suggest a need to process these feelings and explore whether you want to attempt to reconnect with your father or come to terms with the estrangement. It might also indicate a need for self-acceptance and understanding in the context of family dynamics.
